About this site

This is my all-purpose personal website and blog; a place for stray thoughts, long rambly posts, stories, memories, recommendations and whatever else. I don’t want to be too rigid about what could appear here in the future, though it’s safe to say that most of it will likely relate to video games. I’m not really interested in reviewing games, but sometimes I just want to really process and understand why I liked it, or share the thoughts I had playing it, and writing about it is the best way to do that without straining the patience of my friends. As someone interested in making games myself, this site will hopefully serve as a place to talk about my own projects, too. But broadly speaking, this is mostly just a place to talk about the things I like.

Social media fatigue Though I often want to share, I rarely do it on social media nowadays. It all just feels so…throwaway. I’m not effortlessly funny and I ramble, so I don’t feel like that’s a place for me to exist in other than, mostly, a lurker and a re-poster. I can’t fit anything substantial into a single post, so then I’m writing threads. If you find yourself doing that regularly, you probably need a blog. Also, who knows how long [insert socmed platform] will last and where are people going to move next? I’m a bit tired of it. I crave connection and conversation, but it feels fleeting at best and unachievable at worst.

This site is an opportunity to create, to finish and to procrastinate.

This tutorial is what got me started and provided me with a basic structure that I could build upon. It was extremely helpful. Thanks, Renkon!

About me
Hi, I'm Martin, a 30-something impostergamedev from Slovakia now living in Prague together with my partner and our cute cat.

I spend most of my time learning solo game development and working on some small projects in Godot Engine. I’d like to release my first commercial game later this year. We’ll see how that goes.
Previously, I worked as a QA tester on video games such as Darkest Dungeon II, Darkest Dungeon: The Butchers Circus DLC and Creaks, among others.

Some of my hobbies and interests include video games (duh), specialty coffee, F1, and photography.
